Making of the Video

‘Then and Now – Volume 1’ has been two years in the making, from conception – to funding – to planning – to playing the first note. It culminated in a recording event in May 2018 where, over the course of seven days, twenty-four artists sang on ten classic Canadian songs, cutting vocals at Arc House Studios in Kelowna, BC.

Country Music Special Moments

These collaborations were meticulous captured on video to document some truly unique moments…

  • Ian Tyson slouched in the central booth, hat pulled low, eyes closed and booted toe tapping in time while Aaron Pritchett belted out a high-test version of “Summer Wages”…
  • Tracey Brown and Randall Prescott leaning into each other for an impromptu shiver-inducing, acapella ‘warm-up’ of “Raised on Country Music”…
  • Gary Fjellgaard bringing the entire production team to tears with his husky, heart-squeezing delivery of “Dance With This Old Cowboy”…
  • The matchless Michelle Wright and country darling Jess Moskaluke…
  • King and queen of cool Russell deCarle and Patricia Conroy…
  • Go-for-broke funny-man Wendell Ferguson and Alberta country gentleman Gord Bamford…
  • The match made in hillbilly heaven: The Good Brothers and The Washboard Union…
  • Murray McLauchlan and Beverly Mahood as (in Murray’s words) Mick and Keith…
  • Sylvia Tyson and George Canyon and a hit of Fleetwood Mac.

These once-in-a-lifetime pairings between country music royalty and the current crop of Canadian stars leave a recorded time capsule for the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, its iconic inductees and future Hall-of-Famers.
