The CCMA orchestrates Country Music Week every year; the 2014 festivities will take place in Edmonton, September 4 - 7


ABOUT COUNTRY MUSIC WEEK®


What is Country Music Week and when did it begin? Country Music Week began in 1977 as an annual event which heightens awareness and increases exposure for Canada’s country music artists. Today, Country Music Week is a week of public programming from a Songwriters’ Series to showcases for up-and-coming talent to a full-day FanFest that is free and family-friendly. While there is an industry conference running simultaneously from September 4 - 7, the focus of Country Music Week is on the public’s access to Canadian country music.

Tickets for the 2014 CCMA Awards Show, taking
place in Edmonton on Sunday, September 7, are available now via Ticketmaster. The majority of the tickets for Country Music Week events are priced at $20 taxes in.


Who attends the industry conference and what does it entail? The industry conference portion of Country Music Week has delegates from across Canada, the US and a few international visitors from various sectors of the music industry. The majority of these delegates are recording artists who are looking to network with radio, managers and booking agents among others in attendance. The four-day conference includes among other things, educational seminars, networking receptions and three industry award ceremonies.

What events are accessible to the public during Country Music Week? Country Music Week consists of several events for the public the following represents the hallmark events which are a part of the Country music Week schedule each year:


CCMA Songwriters’ Series

With a different host each day; these four (4) acoustic in-the-round shows always provide inspiration to industry and fans alike. The CCMA Songwriters’ Series highlights both up-and-coming songwriters and artists selected by a national jury process as well as some established songwriters/artists who are all sure to entertain the audience with their songwriting and storytelling skills. The final show in the series
celebrates both Canadians international songwriters who have made their mark on the worldwide country music scene.


CCMA Discovery Showcase

Even Canada’s biggest and brightest had to start somewhere and you can see them before they take off for the stars at the CCMA Discovery Showcase. Bringing together our six CCMA Discovery Program participants who were selected through a rigorous, nationwide jury selection process, these acts have risen to the top and are sure to impress! With an all-star host, andfeaturing special performancesthroughout the night,
this performance opportunity is all it takes to open the door to a record or management deal.


CCMA Legends Show

The CCMA Legends Show launched in 2013 with a sold-out show in Edmonton and was created in an effort to honour those who built this industry that we so proudly represent each and every day. This event which will take place in a soft-seat theatre, will include collaborations with future country stars and will feature the hits of yesteryear and today. The collaborations in this event make this show a must-see.


CCMA FanFest

Country music fans will be in sensory overload with the stellar line up at CCMA FanFest, a free, larger-than-life festival held each year. Come and be a part of the excitement as Canada’s biggest and brightest country music stars entertain the fans that celebrate them year round and get a chance to meet and greet your favourite Canadian country music stars.


CCMA All Star Band Awards

The awards don’t stop! The third ceremony in our Awards series, the CCMA All-Star Band
Awards honours the heart and soul of the music industry...the hard working musicians who spend hours perfecting their skills and support artists on stage and behind the scenes. Sit back and party the night away with some of the best and most appreciated musicians Canada has to offer.

CCMA Pre-Show

Fans begin arriving as early as 10 AM for the Green Carpet Fan Zone, so we like to celebrate with the this early crowd with a CCMA Pre-Party.
With a stage and full production, we will have live performances from Canadian country artists and vendors, merch booths in a fun, festival-type atmosphere.


CCMA Awards Green Carpet


Come and check out who’s who and on their way to the CCMA Awards Show as they walk the infamous ‘Green Carpet’ into Rexall Place. Nominated artists, performers and presenters will take to the Green Carpet for media interviews, photos and opportunities to greet fans in the Fan
Zone. Access to the Green Carpet is limited and only accredited media will have access to artists and celebrity presenters for interviews and photos. However, fans are encouraged to come on down and cheer for the artists they love as they take their glamorous walk into the venue.

ABOUT THE CCMA AWARDS BROADCAST

What is the CCMA Awards Show and when did it begin? The CCMA Awards Show is a 2 - hour televised awards program where 8 awards are handed out in the following categories: Male Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Group or Duo of the Year, Album of the year, Single of the Year, Video of the Year, the Rising Star Award and the only fan voted category, the CCMA Fans’ Choice Award. The first CCMA Awards broadcast took place in 1982 in Halifax, NS. Since 1999, the broadcast has been aired on CBC and CMT nationally and in some cases aired in the US and Australia.

How many people will see the CCMA Awards broadcast? Each year the CCMA Awards broadcast reaches over 3,000,000 people across Canada.
